urban logistics

2nd edition of City Development Forum was held from 12 to 13 September 2018. Urban logistics was the main topic this year.

The event was organised by the city of Poznań and Volkswagen Poznań and was opened by Jacek Jaśkowiak, the mayor of Poznań, and Jens Ocksen, the President of Management Board of Volkswagen Poznań.

The first day of the Forum was devoted to presentations by Polish and foreign experts and a debate, during which its participants discussed the issue of sharing vehicles in cargo transport.

urban logistics

On 12 and 13 September in Poznań we will attempt to handle the challenges of urban logistics. On the first day, we will be accompanied by guests from abroad, personalities from Poznań as well as other Polish cities. Lectures and a forum debate will also be an invitation for interaction and reflection. The second day will provide the opportunity to focus on challenges which have been already recognized and search for optimum solutions in smaller groups, during workshops under the patronage of the organizers and partners of the event.
We do realise that, instead of the conventional understanding of logistics as the function of an enterprise, we are increasingly moving towards the concept of “logistics as a service”. The technological progress, development of robotics, computer science and telecommunication result in progressing virtualization of the world that surrounds us. Both theoreticians and practitioners are increasingly referring to the fourth-generation logistic (logistics 4.0). This trend is also present in urban logistics. New possibilities emerge, new practices are being implemented. Let us utilise this potential for change.
