WORKSHOP #2 – Sustainable urban logistics in Poznań, FQP
within the framework of the Urban Development Forum 2018
organiser: the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing (ILiM) and the Department of Transport and Greenery of the Poznań City Hall

The workshop included a brief presentation of the SULPITER project, the leader of which is the Institute for Transport and Logistics from Bologna, and partners on the Polish side the Department of Transport and Greenery of the City of Poznań together with the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing. The aim of the project is to develop the SUSTAINABLE URBAN LOGISTICS PLAN (SULP) as the main strategic document for freight transport in the city of Poznań. The results of the study conducted as part of the SULPITER project among 302 business entities operating in Poznań, including questions regarding storage, delivery and transport, were presented to describe the situation and problems in Poznań in the area in question. The existing good practices in the field of urban logistics in the world were described in order to introduce the participants to the subject.
Before the workshops, a questionnaire was sent to companies to determine the areas of logistics that are of interest to entrepreneurs. Three solutions supporting the movement of goods, the most important from the point of view of the study carried out, were selected from among the identified solutions to discuss possible implementation scenarios (what conditions should be met for the solution to be implemented, how to do it, what will be the positive/negative effects, who will benefit from the solution, who will lose, etc.).

During work in groups, the business model canvas was developed for previously selected solutions.

Group 1 developed:

  • solution in the area of New Technologies: Interactive map of the city center for suppliers.
  • solution in the area of Technology and Vehicles: The last mile delivery of supplies using vehicles powered by alternative energy sources.

Group 2 developed:

  • solution in the area of Infrastructure Development: Construction and organisation of work of urban freight consolidation centers – the so-called mini hubs.

The developed solutions were the image of all resources, conditions and areas which must be met and taken into account while implementing the concept being developed.
